For seven entire years there was a quarrel between the male and female Gnat. Finally, the husband Mr. Gnat relented and told her what had made him so angry in the first place, 'It was the time when you spotted a naked man from Māhūzā bathing and then wrap himself in towels. So you immediately flew over, landed on him, and stung him, but you never even bothered telling me!'

- The Babylonian Talmud, Hullin 58b

- The Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 105a
