Part VI. Rivalry and Similarity Between the Talmud and the Gospels

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the
Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
For truly I tell you, until Heaven and Earth disappear, not the
smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means
disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore
anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and
teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of
Heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will
be called great in the kingdom of Heaven. For I tell you that unless
your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers
of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Even though this has been said before, it should be said again that the sayings, and even the parables, of Jesus Christ were not all of His own, but were the culmination of many centuries of ancient Israelite and Jewish tradition. These words of wisdom did not inspire, nor impress, the Greco-Roman elites and their philosophers or cause them to believe, on the contrary. What did finally cause them to convert was the miraculous transformation they saw in people who were diseased, sick, or in despair, as well as the very real supernatural miracles performed by the Apostles, Disciples, and the dozens of Saints who came after them. The Rabbis crucified R. Joshua ben Joseph because they thought He was practicing black magic or was hopelessly (and helplessly) possessed by the Devil. 2,000 years later, His magic lives on within the most famous compilation of Jewish wisdom and advice ever written- commonly known as the Gospels of Jesus Christ. Enjoy the following comparisons.

TALMUD: The builder mixes a thick sand with a thinner one in the mortar, by which contrivance the latter becomes very strong and the building more substantial. In creating the first pair, something of this method was adopted. Adam was the strong and Eve the weaker. This mixture of the weak with the strong is beneficial to the human race. (Genesis Rabba 14)
GOSPEL: ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mark 10:7-9)

TALMUD: Man was originally formed with a tail like the lower animals, but this was afterwards taken from him out of consideration for him. (Genesis Rabba 14)
GOSPEL: Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. (Matthew 7:6)

TALMUD: Man in celibacy is in sublime ignorance of what is meant by the words good, hell, joy, blessing, peace and expiation of sin. He is, in fact, not entitled to the dignified name of man. (Genesis Rabba 17)
GOSPEL: Jesus replied, 'Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others- and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.' (Matthew 19:11-12)

TALMUD: God designed man for work, to work for his own sustenance. He who does not work shall not eat. (Genesis Rabba 14)

GOSPEL: Because Mary's husband, Joseph, was a good man, he did not want to disgrace her in public, so he planned to divorce her secretly. While Joseph thought about these things, an angel of the Lord came to him in a dream. The angel said, 'Joseph, descendant of David, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the baby in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.' (Matthew 1:19-21)

GOSPEL: Jesus, when He had cried out again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost...Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee onto a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him (again), they worshiped Him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, 'All power is given unto Me in Heaven and on Earth.' (Matthew 27:50, 28:16-18)

TALMUD: The river Euphrates is the chief and choicest of all rivers. (Genesis Rabba 16)
GOSPEL: And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. (Mark 1:4-5)

TALMUD: The Greeks, amongst other insults which they heaped on Jews, had a satirical saying. The Jews should write on the horn of an ox- alluding to the making of the golden calf, that they are not the portion of the God of Israel. (Genesis Rabba 16)
GOSPEL: They said to Jesus, 'Teacher, this woman was caught having sexual relations with a man who is not her husband. The law of Moses commands that we stone to death every woman who does this. What do you say we should do?' They were asking this to trick Jesus so that they could have some charge against him. But Jesus bent over and started writing on the ground with his finger. When they continued to ask Jesus their question, he raised up and said, 'Anyone here who has never sinned can throw the first stone at her.' Then Jesus bent over again and wrote on the ground. (John 8:4-8)

TALMUD: Sleep is a sixtieth portion of death, a dream is the same proportion of prophecy and the Sabbath of the Future bliss. (Genesis Rabba 17)
GOSPEL: Then Jesus went back to his followers and found them asleep. He said to Peter, 'You men could not stay awake with me for one hour? Stay awake and pray for strength against temptation. The spirit wants to do what is right, but the body is weak.' (Matthew 26:40-41)

TALMUD: 'Why,' asked a matron of Rabbi José, 'did God steal a rib from Adam?' 'Steal, did you say?' replied the Sage. 'If one were to take away from your house an ounce of silver, and give you in return a pound of gold, that would not be stealing from you.' 'But,' Persisted his friend, 'what need was there for secrecy?' 'It was surely better,' replied R. José, 'to present Eve to Adam when she was quite presentable, and when no traces of the effects of the operation were visible.' (Genesis Rabba 17)
GOSPEL: After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb (of Jesus).There was a violent earthquake, for an Angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow...The Angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples'...So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy...Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. (Matthew 28:1-9)

TALMUD: That woman exercises more influence over man than he possesses over woman was illustrated by a couple who were famous for their piety, but who were eventually divorced. The man married a woman of questionable habits, and soon copied her conduct and became like his new wife, conspicuous for his evil deeds; whilst the divorced woman married a notorious sinner, and converted him into a pious man. (Genesis Rabba 17)
GOSPEL: A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is-that she is a sinner.' Jesus answered him, 'Simon, I have something to tell you'...Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven-as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.' Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.' (Luke 7:37-48)

GOSPEL: 'The only reason for a man to divorce his wife is if his wife has sexual relations with another man.' Jesus answered, 'Not everyone can accept this teaching, but God has made some able to accept it. There are different reasons why some men cannot marry. Some men were born without the ability to become fathers. Others were made that way later in life by other people. And some men have given up marriage because of the kingdom of Heaven. But the person who can marry should accept this teaching about marriage.' (Matthew 19:9-12)

TALMUD: Rabbi Meier wrote a scroll for his own use, on the margin of which he wrote, in connexion with the words: 'And God saw that it was good,' 'This means death, which is the passing from life transitory to life everlasting.' - Genesis Rabba 9
GOSPEL: Then Jesus said to his disciples: 'If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For he that will save his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it. For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?' (Matthew 16:24-26)

Part V. The Judeo-Christian Messianic Age

Talmudic Scholars Work and Study

If you think you have had already had enough, think again. The Judeo-Christian legacy continues, not for any sudden globally-catastrophic reckoning, but for a centuries-long preparation that lies ahead. A long time ago, both Judaism and Christianity predicted that the Messiah would come sometime around the third millenium, give or take a few hundred years. Specifically, Orthodox Judaism predicts, indeed believes, that this will begin to occur around 200-300 years from now in the Jewish 6th millenium in the year 6000 A.A. (After Adam). Until then, all believers in the God of Abraham, all God-fearing Jews and Christians, should prepare for this by forgetting the politics, the ethnicities, and the economic strife of today and tomorrow and instead concentrate on being the telepathic, lycanthropic 'People of God.' These two 'supernatural' abilities are expected to be the first manifestations of the Messianic Age. The leading sheep of tomorrow's eternal flock of Earthlings (furry or otherwise) are destined to inherit first grazing rights to a very wet planet where the Sahara has gone green with envy over the Messiah's long-promised one thousand year reign.

TALMUD: Man is the last in creation and the first in responsibility. (Leviticus Rabba 14)
GOSPEL: As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, 'I will follow you wherever you go.' Jesus replied, 'Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.' (Luke 9:57-58)

TALMUD: Do not enter any house without some indication of your coming, such as knocking at the door: even in your own house you should not make your appearance suddenly or unexpectedly; something may be going on there which, however innocent, may cause you annoyance and may lead to a want of peace and harmony in your household. GOSPEL: After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them...'Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. (Luke 10:1-7)

TALMUD: If a man is a witness, whether he has seen or otherwise knows of a thing, if he does not testify he shall bear his iniquity (Leviticus 5:1). 'You, my people,' says God to Israel, 'have both seen (Deuteronomy 4:35), and know (Deuteronomy 5:39) that I am God, and thus you are my proper witnesses (Isaiah 43:10). If then you will not proclaim Me as God to all nations of the earth, you shall bear your iniquity.' (Leviticus Rabba 6)
GOSPEL: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

TALMUD: Moses had more than one reason for addressing the Heavens and the Earth and calling them as witnesses. In the first place it should not be forgotten that Moses, whilst only a man, was a heavenly as well as an earthly man. He was no stranger to heaven, and if he had addressed himself to the earth only he would have been like one who, being made governor of a dominion, should address one part of the country under his charge and ignore the other. But there is a weightier reason, inasmuch as the heavens and the earth will not be indifferent spectators at Israel's redemption, but will sing and shout and break forth in singing (Isaiah 44:33). Another important point: they were adjuncts at the giving of the Decalogue. Moreover, Israel had been compared to the stars of heaven and to the dust of the earth. (Deuteronomy Rabba 10)
GOSPEL: And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on Earth.' (Matthew 28:18)

TALMUD: Be not spiteful or revengeful, and do not harbour any wrong which you may have suffered at any one's hands. In spite of all the wrongs and sorrows the Egyptians have inflicted on Israel, God does not allow us to abhor an Egyptian. (Deuteronomy Rabba 5)
GOSPEL: Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him. (Luke 17:3-4)

TALMUD: The Israelites are declared to be holy unto the Lord (Jeremiah 2:3). It is forbidden to touch holiness, therefore those who persecute them will not escape retribution. (Numbers Rabba 2)
GOSPEL: You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. (Matthew 5:38-39)

TALMUD: A community rejecting the leadership of the great and selecting as its leaders insignificant individuals can only be compared to the serpent which decided to creep along tail foremost, in consequence of which it was hurt by thorns, burnt by fire, and injured by water; a community should not be led by one man only. GOSPEL: When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2)

GOSPEL: He (Jesus Christ) would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple. And He began to teach and say to them, "Is it not written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS'? But you have made it a ROBBERS' DEN.'' The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching. (Mark 11:16-18)

TALMUD: There was a limit to every prophet's inspiration. Beeri, the father of Hosea, only uttered a few words of prophecy, and as they were insufficient to be embodied in a book by themselves, they were incorporated within the book of Isaiah, namely verses 19 and 20 of the 8th chapter of Isaiah. (Leviticus Rabba 15)

The Good News Talmud, Part IV. In Tribute to St. Antoninus, the Holy Maccabee

Part IV. In Tribute to St. Antoninus, the Holy Maccabee

If sincere converts to Judaism enter Heaven, Antoninus will be at the head of them.

For those Jews and Christians who are familiar with the Maccabees, the following story may well be an old one. However, for those readers not acquainted with the story of the Maccabees, one should take note that both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches recognize several Jewish participants involved in the Maccabee Revolt to be Christian Saints residing in Christian Heaven. One of these Saints is know as Saint Antonin (or Anton, Antoninus, Antonio, etc.), one of the Seven 'Holy Maccabee' Sons of St. Solomonia (Hannah, Mirriam). Anyway, I just recently discovered this quote in the Talmud and it made me realize that the ancient Jews must have taken Greek names from some of the more famous Greek Gentiles who openly and publicly converted from Paganism to Judaism thousands of years ago and long before Christianity became an option. With that in mind, the Good News Talmud, Part VI. is dedicated to Saint Antoninus, a Jew so devout he willingly chose and endured hideous torture and death rather than eat even a single bite of pork- truly a Maccabee (and Judeo-Christian) hero forevermore.




TALMUD: Let no man be deterred from repenting by knowing the great depth of his sin. Let him bear in mind that he does not come to a stranger but to his Heavenly Father. (Deuteronomy Rabba 2)
GOSPEL: What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:4-7)

TALMUD: The Tablets of the commandments were called Tablets of Stones, because the punishment for violating the commandments was death by stoning. (Exodus Rabba 41)
GOSPEL: Jesus went to the Mount of Olives....The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they said to Him, 'Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?' They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. Rabbi Judah replied that not only was his present precious above all the possessions of both, but it had immeasurable advantage over the valuable pearl, as care must be taken of the pearl, whilst his amulet would take care of its possessor. Right or wrong, agree or disagree, the sheer volume of clear and obvious parallels shows that the quiet Jewish and Gentile Christian scholars who have discovered the clear links between the Talmud and the New Testament in the past have also been silenced for centuries, for far too long. Potential Rabbis study Talmud

TALMUD: God pairs- in marriages, and appoints all destinies. (Leviticus Rabba 8)
GOSPEL: ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mark 10:7-9)

TALMUD: Moses considered the breaking of the Tablets preferable to delivering them to the people, after they had made the golden calf. He was like a man commissioned by a king to convey the marriage contract to his future bride, who learns on his way that the would-be bride has rendered herself guilty of a serious indiscretion. He decides--in the woman's own interest--not to proceed further with the nuptial contract, but to tear it up, as she will thus still be unmarried and her guilt less serious than if she were guilty of her misdeed after she had received her marriage lines. (Exodus Rabba 43 and 46)
GOSPEL: This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.'...When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. The Good News Talmud, Part II. Rabbi Joshua (Jesus) Knew Talmud

Yet again, the Talmud and the Gospels appear as one and the same text, strongly implying that Joshua (Jesus in Greek), the lanky carpenter from the 'certain Galilean' countryside, studied with the best student Pharisees of His day. Embittered by their arrogant dismissal of his lowly pious father and mother, Joseph and Mary, this outsider Rabbi rebel with a cause has still managed to bring the greatest teachings of the Talmud to Gentiles throughout the world.

TALMUD: God has a seal, and His seal is truth. (Deuteronomy Rabba 1)

GOSPEL: He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true. (John 3:33)

TALMUD: If you sit in judgment and you find one of the litigants anxious to verify his statement by taking an oath, have suspicion against that individual. (Leviticus Rabba 6)
GOSPEL: 'Woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.' And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, 'Surely it is not I, Rabbi?' Jesus said to him, 'You have said it yourself.' (Matthew 26:24-25)
